The UK Open is not far away and yesterday the draw was made. Darius Labanauskas feature in the third round but can go up against Marko Kantele.
The UK Open will start at March 6 at Butlin’s Minehead Resort. The tournament, that features mutiple stages, will feature 160 players and among them we find all four Tour Card holders from the Nordic & Baltic region.
Because of their different rankings, they will start in different rounds. Daniel Larsson will feature already in the first round, as he is number 107 on the Order of Merit. He will go up against go up against Ryan Meikle in the first round. Meikle has partcipated in four Players Championship events this season, and his best result was reaching the round of 32.
Should Larsson win the match, he will then have to go up against the winner between Mike De Decker and Lisa Ashton.
Madars Razma, as number 69, and Marko Kantele, as number 74, will both start in the second round. Madars Razma will go up against the winner between Derk Telnekes and Martijn Kleermaker. Should Razma win the second round match, he can potentially meet Damon Heta, Scott Waites or Geert Nejntjes in the third round.
Marko Kantele has been drawn against Dirk van Duijvenbode. The Dutchman reached the semi-final at Players Championship 2.
The winner of this match will go up against Darius Labanauskas in the third round, meaning we could see a Nordic/Baltic match in the third round.
Labanauskas features in this round because of his place as number 50 on the Order of Merit.
