This weekend saw no less than two Nordic and Baltic Pro Tours and four European Qualifiers take place at Apple Hotel i Gothenburg, and it turned out to be a good weekend for the Swedes.
It was quite a weekend for the Swedes in Gothenburg, as Johan Engström won his first Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour title ever and Jeffrey de Graaf won his foruth of the kind.
Johan Engström managed to go all the way at Pro Tour 3, as he knocked out players like Andreas Harrysson and Paavo Myller on his way to the final.
In the final he was up against fellow Swede Oskar Lukasiak, a match which Johan Engström won by 6-4.
Jeffrey de Graaf lost already in the round of 32 in the Pro Tour 3, however he managed to pull himself up at Sunday, when he won the Pro Tour 4, with victories against Dennis Nilsson and Darius Labanauskas in the quarter-final and semi-final, before he won against Norwegian Cor Dekker in the final.
In the four European Qualifiers, we saw four different victors, as Johan Engström qualified for the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen, Darius Labanauskas for the Austrian Darts Open in Graz, Daniel Larsson for the Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel and Teemu Harju for the Dutch Darts Championship in Rosmalen.
Milestone and Nordic Darts Masters
Pro Tour 3 was also quite a milestone for the PDC Nordic & Baltic, as it was the 100th Pro Tour event of our history.
The organization behind the PDC Nordic & Baltic are feeling much gratitude for the support throughout the years from both players, volunteers, playing locations and everybody else, who have contributed to developing the PDC Nordic & Baltic to what is today.
It is this development, that has made it possible for our region to get a World Series event in the form of the Nordic Darts Masters, which will be back in Copenhagen in June, and other than the Pro Tours this weekend and the European Qualifiers, the race for the Nordic Darts Masters also found its conclusion, as Marko Kantele, Johan Engström, Vladimir Andersen, Dennis Nilsson and Daniel Larsson all five managed to qualify for the event later this year.
It is already known, that our three Tour Card holders, Madars Razma, Benjamin Drue Reus and Jeffrey de Graaf, will be a part of the home nation players at the event.
Our next Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour weekend will be in Finland in May and June.
