Peter Wright won his first ever World Championship this evening.
All the bookies thought it would be Michael van Gerwen, but it all ended up a 7-3 victory for Peter Wright, who now can call himself world champion.
The Scotsman started of by getting ahead 2-0 in sets, before Michael van Gerwen equalized. Then Snakebite took another two sets, before MvG reduced the score to 4-3.
After this Peter Wright took three sets in a row, with the double 10 securing him his first ever World Championship.
The result also means, that Peter Wright will go up as number two on the PDC Order of Merit.
Along the way Michael van Gerwen had the opportunity for a nine-darter, but he missed the double 12, just as Nico Kurz, Adrian Lewis and Darren Webster did earlier in the tournament.
