Valters Melderis secured himself his first ever title on the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour, when he won event 3 against Johan Engström.
Johan Engström got a good start in the final of the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour 3, as he got ahead by 2-0. However Valters Melderis got himself on 2-1 with an incredible 11 darter before equalizing. And after a close match, Valters Melderis got ahead and won the match by 6-4.
The Latvian got off with a good start at the event, as he won 6-0 in the round of 64, before averaging just about 95 and winning 6-1 in the next round.
In the following three matches Melderis won by 6-3 in all of the matches, first against Edgar Znutins in the round of 16, before winning against Anton Östlund and Jonas Masalin in the quarter- and semi-final.
With the title after his victory against Johan Engström in the final, the first Latvian title since 2022 was secured.
Johan Engström got himself to the final by winning his first three matches by 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2.
In the quarter-final the Swede really impressed, as he averaged impressive 100.28 in his victory against Tour Card holder Oskar Lukasiak.
And even though it looked like game over multiple times in the semi-final against Andreas Hyllgaardhus, Johan Engström won 6-5 even though he was down by 5-1 and the Dane had no less than six match darts throughout the match.
The Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour continues tomorrow with the fourth event of the season.
At Friday Johan Engström and Teemu Harju qualified for German Darts Grand Prix and Austrian Darts Open respectively.
