Andreas Harrysson will be part of the World Championships in Alexandra Palace in December after his third Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour title of the season.
After a really close final, Andreas Harrysson managed to win 6-5 against Oskar Lukasiak, securing his third Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour title of the season.
With the title and the ranking points that follows, Andreas Harrysson can not be surpassed by Marko Kantele and Teemu Harju, who sits 3rd and 4th in the rankings, ahead of the last weekend in Norway.
Andreas Harrysson started the tournament with a BYE due to his place among the seeded players and got straight into the round of 32, in which Anton Östlund would be the first opponent of the day.
Andreas Harrysson did not use to much time on the match and won the duel by 6-1.
In the round of 16 yet another fellow Swede awaited, as Johan Engström was the other player at the oche. The match started as a close encounter, but when Engström got ahead by 4-3, Andreas Harrysson managed to win three legs in a row by 14 darts in each leg.
In the quarter-final Andreas Harrysson looked like the victor, as he got up by 5-3. However opponent Tonni Sørensen forced the match into a 11th and deciding leg, in which Andreas Harrysson got out as the winner.
Then Marko Kantele stood as the next opponent in the line.
The semi-final started with some fantastic checkouts, with both a 117-checkout from Harrysson and a 116-checkout from Kantele inside of the first three legs. Harrysson however had more magic up his sleeve, as he equalized the score to 4-4 by checking out impressive 145.
None of the two were able to break the other players, which once again got Harrysson into an 11th and deciding leg, in which Kantele had the throw. With an 11 darter however, Harrysson managed to make the first break of the match and thereby secured himself the victory of the match.
The final between Harrysson and Lukasiak got off to a slow start, as both players had some troubles with the doubles in the opening leg, meaning Lukasiak had to use 26 darts before securing the leg.
Lukasiak then won yet another two legs, bringing him ahead by 3-0. However with three legs in a row for Harrysson, the score was equalized.
After this both players held their throw in the next four legs, meaning the match had to be decided in a 11th leg. And even though Lukasiak had the throw, Harrysson managed to break with a 15 darter, securing the title.
Oskar Lukasiak managed to start the tournament with a 6-4 win against Jonas Graversen in the round of 32, after he also had a BYE in the first round.
In the round of 16 he was up against Edwin Torbjörnsson, who started the match with an 11 darter and also secured the next leg, meaning Lukasiak quickly was behind by 0-2. It also got to 1-3, before Lukasiak won four legs in a row and got up by 5-3. Afterwards each player won a leg, meaning Lukasiak won 6-4.
The quarter-final was a battle of PDC Tour Cards, as Cor Dekker was the opponent. With a 13 darter Lukasiak got up by 2-1, followed by two legs for Cor Dekker, bringing the Norwegian in front.
With the score at 4-3 to Cor Dekker, Lukasiak then managed to win three legs in a row, meaning he won yet another match by the numbers 6-4.
6-4 would also be the result of the semi-final against Viktor Tingström. Even though Tingström won the first leg by 12 darts, Lukasiak also managed to impress with two 13 darters and a 14 darter in the match.
Yesterday Darius Labanauskas managed to qualify for the Czech Darts Open, in the late qualifier.
With the weekend in Denmark coming to an end, the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour will end in August, when the tour goes to Norway and the race for the last spot at Ally Pally and the race for the PDC Nordic & Baltic Darts Championship will be concluded.
