Teemu Harju won the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour 7 on Saturday, while Darius Labanauskas won event 8 on Sunday.
This weekend saw Teemu Harju and Darius Labanauskas securing a Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour title each, when the tour went to Finland.
The title for Teemu Harju was his first ever title on the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour and it was secured in a final against Daniel Larsson.
Teemu Harju got off to a good start by winning 6-0 and 6-2 against fellow Finns Valtteri Nikunen and Uki Takkinen.
In the quarter-final another Finn waited, as 16-time Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour winner Kim Viljanen stood at the oche. However the decorated Viljanen only managed to win one leg in the match and therefore Teemu Harju was ready for the semi-finals after a 6-1 victory.
In the semi-final a firework of a game took place, as Teemu Harju and Johan Engström both played at a fantastic level, with the game seeing legs won by 11 darts, 12 darts, 13 darts and 14 darts two times. Teemu Harju won the match by 6-4 averaging 97.11 against 101.63 from Engström.
In the final Daniel Larsson got ahead by 1-0, but then Teemu Harju took the next three legs before Larsson again managed to get a leg-securing double. Once again however, Teemu Harju was able to win three legs in a row and thereby securing the title by 6-2.
Daniel Larsson could look back on a great run to the final, with victories against players such as Cor Dekker, Andreas Harrysson and Valters Melderis. In his first two matches he won against Simon Bak and Jarko Uutela.
On Sunday Darius Labanauskas won the final of the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour 8 against Andreas Harrysson by 6-3.
“Lucky D” did not have the easiest way to the final, as he won 6-3 against Alexander Thorvaldsen in the round of 32 before winning 6-5 against Jani Keskinarkaus in the next round. Darius Labanauskas pulled off a 16-darter in the deciding leg, leaving Keskinarkaus with 115 still on the score board.
The Lithuanian had to win another deciding leg in his quarter-final against Tour Card holder Oskar Lukasiak. This time Darius Labanauskas pulled off an even better 14-darter in the deciding leg, checking out 84 with two darts.
Johan Engström was the man to beat in the semi-final, and with a score of 6-3, Darius Labanauskas was ready for the final against Harrysson.
In the final Labanauskas got up by 3-0, before Harrysson managed to secure his first leg of the game. Then the two finalists took turn winning the legs, which ended up giving the result of 6-3.
With the title Darius Labanauskas has now won impressive 13 Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour titles.
Andreas Harrysson reached the final by winning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1 against Jani Rossi, Edgar Znutins and Anton Östlund in the first three rounds of the tournament.
In the semi-final he won 6-4 against Tour Card holder Cor Dekker, before eventually losing the final against Darius Labanauskas.
Teemu Harju, Andreas Harrysson and Johan Engström also qualified for the European Tour this weekend, winning a qualifier each.
Nordic Darts Masters and World Cup
With the results of this weekend, is it also now known, that Andreas Harrysson and Darius Labanauskas will conclude the Nordic and Baltic field for the Nordic Darts Masters in Copenhagen next month. They will be joining the six Tour Card holders Madars Razma, Benjamin Reus, Cor Dekker, Jeffrey de Graaf, Oskar Lukasiak and Viktor Tingström.
Before the weekend it was also already known, that Marko Kantele and Teemu Harju will represent Finland at the World Cup of Darts this year.
With the results of the weekend however, it is also now know, that Andreas Hyllgaardhus will be pairing up with Benjamin Reus on the Danish team. Valters Melderis will be joining Madars Razma for Latvia, and Mindaugas Barauskas will be joining Darius Labanauskas on the Lithuanian side.
Kent Jøran Sivertsen will conclude the Norwegian team alongside Cor Dekker, and the Swedish team will be found after the next two PDC Players Championship events this coming week, as Jeffrey de Graaf, Oskar Lukasiak and Viktor Tingström will be part of the field in the two events.
