Cor Dekker won his second Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour event of the season today, as he won the fourth event.
Last time in Latvia Cor Dekker made himself the Norwegian with most titles on the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour, as he made the total number of titles to two.
Today however, at the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour 4, he made the total to three, as he won his second title of the season after a 6-1 victory against Jani Haavisto in the final.
Cor Dekker went up by 4-0 before Jani Haavisto managed to win his first and only leg of the match. Cor Dekker made two 15-darters and a single 16-darter in the match.
The Norwegian was on yet another mission for a good result from the start of the day, as he won 6-2 against Jonas Masalin in the round of 32 averaging impressive 99.69.
In the round of 16 he was drawn against Mindaugas Barauskas, however he made short work of the match, as he won 6-1 with both a 12-darter and a 13-darter along the way.
In the quarter-final he had to face the semi-finalist from yesterday, as he was facing Jonas Graversen. The Norwegian got off to a good start of the match, as he won the first three legs of the match, before Jonas Graversen managed to win his first leg of the match.
After this none of the two managed to break the other, meaning Cor Dekker won the match by 6-3.
The semi-final proved to be a total whitewash, as Cor Dekker left no survivors in his 6-0 win against Petri Rasmus. Cor Dekker averaged 93.94 in that match and was ready for the final against Jani Haavisto.
Jani Haavisto also started the day in the round of 32, as he has gotten himself a BYE in the first round. The Finn was up against Latvian Edgar Znutins, and even though Znutins has made som good performances on the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour, Jani Haavisto had no problems winnng the match 6-1 with an impressive 14-darter along the way.
In the round of 16 Johan Engström awaited at the oche, but once again Haavisto proved why he is among the absolute best players in the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour, as he won 6-2 against the Sweet Ferret with an even more impressive 11-darter in the penultimate leg.
The quarter-final however was quite intense against Valters Melderis. After both players had won one leg each, Valters Melderis won three legs in a row going up by 4-1. However with an 18-darter, a 14-darter and a 16-darter Jani Haavisto leveled the score, before Melderis once again got ahead by 5-4.
The Finn then won the next two legs in 15 and 16 darts, meaning Jani Haavisto won the match by 6-5 and thus secured a spot into the semi-finals against Daniel Larsson.
Even though the averages of the match wasn’t among the very highest of the day from any of the two, Jani Haavisto got himself in front by 5-1. Larsson however reduced the score to 5-3, before Jani Haavisto could check out the 10th leg with an 52-checkout and therefore securing his spot in the final.
Yesterday Anton Östlund managed to qualify for the German Darts Grand Prix. Today and tomorrow we will find the Nordic and Baltic qualifiers for the European Darts Grand Prix and Austrian Darts Open before shutting down the second tournament weekend of the season.
