Benjamin Drue Reus will be trying to win the Jann Hoffmann Trophy in his home town Odense when the PDC Nordic & Baltic Championship will be held at Odense Congress Center.
Benjamin Drue Reus has had something of a different season this year on the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour. The Dane did not compete at any of the first eight events this season, however when he participated at the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour 9, he took the title.
“At the start of the year I was not mentally ready to travel around for the tournaments. It took to much out of me, so I waited until I felt completely ready again. It was absolutely wild to win the title at my “comeback”, especially because I did not count on it. My main target was to start competing again, so I was better prepared for the new season,” the Dane tells pdc-nordic.tv.
The PDC Nordic and Baltic Championship is being held at the Odense Congress Center in the home town of famous H. C. Andersen, but also of Benjamin Drue Reus.
“In general I do like that the tournaments are being held in other cities than Copenhagen, so that other people have the opportunity to attend in the crowd – but of course it is perfect, that this will take place in my home town. I really look forward to be playing, as it will be my first time in the tournament.”
Even thought the Dane has competed against some of the very best dart players in the world when he had a PDC Tour Card, Benjamin Drue Reus is still realistic about the tough field in the tournament.
“I am taking things as they come. I know that everyone in the tournament is capable of throwing some good darts, however I do feel well-prepared, both physically and psychologically.”
The Dane is to find in Group D with both Jonas Graversen and Jani Laurila.
“It is actually fine. I knew there would not be any easy groups, however it is unfortunate to be drawn up against Graversen. He is one of my good friends, and also my current biggest opponent on Danish soil, so I hoped I would have to face him later in the tournament, as both of us have got the game to go all the way.”
Benjamin Drue Reus will be opening his tournament Friday evening, where he will be facing Jani Laurila.
