Friday the Nordic Darts Masters 2023 takes off and Benjamin Drue Reus and Andreas Harrysson are looking forward to event, even though they have to face Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen.
Nordic Darts Masters 2023 starts at approximately 19.00 local time tomorrow Friday. This will be the third time in a row that the World Series visits Copenhagen and the Forum.
Among the players we will see the two former champions, as both Michael van Gerwen and Dimitri Van den Bergh will be part of the big show in the capital of Denmark.
Also among the players we find one of the greatest talents in Denmark at the moment, more precise Benjamin Drue Reus.
The Dane was also playing in the tournament last year, as he went up against he later champion Dimitri Van den Bergh in the first round. And even though Benjamin Drue Reus lost by 6-0 in that match, he has more confidence ahead of his fixture against former world champion Gerwyn Price.
“I am really excited and look forward to the match. I think that it is really cool (to face Gerwyn Price), it is going to be a good and educational experience to face a player like him. It is not every day that you get such an opportunity,” Benjamin Drue Reus told pdc-nordic.tv.
“It is going to be awesome to stand on the stage again with the Danish audience behind me, as they just enjoy themselves and are having a good time.”
“I have a better knowledge about what I am going into this time and what I can expect, so I do hope that I can control the nerves a bit better at Friday.”
The Dane also has a hope about the behaviour from the Danish audience.
“I do hope that the audience will remember that the players are here to do their job. That they will treat Gerwyn Price and the other players with respect, no matter if they like them or not.”
Andreas Harrysson will be one of two players, who will compete in the tournament for the first time, as he and his fellow Swede Dennis Nilsson, have not qualified for the event before.
Other than these two, Sweden will also be represented by Daniel Larsson – a great example of the many good Swedish players we see on the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour. But Andreas Harrysson does not have a specific explanation for that minor dominance on the tour.
“It is very difficult to answer. But we have a good fellowship and do have fun together when we are out at competitions.”
Andreas Harrysson has not got that much of experience in PDC tournaments, however he has been a regular at some of the best tournaments in the BDO and WDF for quite some years. And that experience he will be using in his match against Michael van Gerwen.
“I am not nervous yet. A while ago I was asked that if I had the opportunity to play against on of the top players in the world, who would I then choose? I said Michael van Gerwen, so I am really looking forward to the match.”
“I feel in a really good shape at the moment.”
