Andreas Harrysson doubled his total Nordic and Baltic titles this weekend, as he won both events in Iceland.
With victories in two finals against Marko Kantele and Oskar Lukasiak, Andreas Harrysson won both Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour events this weekend and also secured himself a spot as number one in the rankings at the halfway mark of the Nordic and Baltic season.
At Pro Tour 5 the Swede managed to slowly raising his averages, as he won 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1 in the first three rounds with averages of 76.42, 84.07 and 92.17 against Kamil Mocek, Niels Heinsøe and Oskar Lukasiak respectively.
In the semi-final Teemu Harju proved difficult to defeat, as the two of them managed to win their own legs until 3-3. Then Teemu Harju broke the Swede and got ahead by 4-3, before Harrysson broke back and equalized. Both players then managed to hold their throw in the next three legs, meaning Harrysson won the match by 6-5. The Swede won four of his six legs with 14 darters.
In the final Marko Kantele also managed to be a handful for Andreas Harrysson, as the Finn got up by 5-3 and looked like a man who would secure his 16th Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour title, as he averaged just about 100 at the time. “Dirty Harrysson” however wanted it different and equalized the score before securing the title by a mesmerizing 11 darter.
Marko Kantele reached the final by beating Alexander Thorvaldsson, Kent Jøran Sivertsen and Einar Gislason in the first three rounds, before having some trouble against Darius Labanauskas in the semi-final. However Marko Kantele came out on top with a win of 6-5 against the Lithuanian.
At Sunday in the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour 6, Andreas Harrysson won 6-5 against fellow Swede Björn Lejon in the round of 32, before beating Latvian talent Ralfs Laumanis 6-4 in the next round.
In the quarter-final he demolished Darius Labanauskas 6-1 with the highest average of the day at 98.97, before he went and won 6-5 against Marko Kantele in the semi-final, despite the Finn getting up by 3-0 in the start of the match.
The final was an all Swedish one, as Oskar Lukasiak was the opponent. And to begin with Andreas Harrysson did not look like a later winner of the match, as Oskar Lukasiak went up by 2-0 while Harrysson only averaged just above 73. Harryson however managed to find another gear and got momentum in the match, which resulted in no less than six won legs in a row for Andreas Harrysson.
Lukasiak had reached the final with victories against Matthias Örn Friðriksson, Péter Rúðrik Guðmundsson, Ivan Springborg and Johan Engström, with nine 180’s in the four matches, which was the highest number of 180’s in the entire event.
The Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour has now reached it halfway point. The season continues in Finland in May, and the cut-off dates for both the World Cup and the Nordic Darts Masters will be just after this weekend.
