Daniel Larsson won his first title of 2026 in the PDC Nordic & Baltic after a final against Jani Haavisto.
After losing in the final of the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour 7 against Darius Labanauskas at Saturday, Daniel Larsson turned that second place into a first place at Sunday, as he won 6-4 against Jani Haavisto in the final of the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour 8.
Daniel Larsson was quick out of the box, as he got himself in front by 4-1 in the final against Haavisto. The Finn then got on 4-2, before making the score 5-4 after one leg for Daniel Larsson in this period of the match.
In the 10th leg, Daniel Larsson secured the title with a 15 darter, checking out 64.
With the title and the 1300 euros in prize money, Daniel Larsson is currently sitting as number two in the Nordic and Baltic rankings, just 400 after Cor Dekker in first place.
After a BYE in the round of 64, Daniel Larsson was drawn up against fellow Swede Anton Östlund in the round of 32. Larsson however made short work of the match and won the encounter by 6-1.
In the round of 16 he had to face Icelandic talent Alexander Thorvaldsson, and even though the young Icelander got back from 3-0 and equalized for 3-3, Daniel Larsson then secured the match by winning three legs in a row by 17 darts in all three.
After this Daniel Larsson had a bit of a run against Danish players, as he won 6-3 against Andreas Nielsen in the quarter-finals with a 15 darter and two 16 darters along the way, before he was up against Bent Lambertsen in the semi-final.
And even though it was the first semi-final ever in the Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour for Bent Lambertsen, the Dane managed follow the Swede all the way to 4-4, before Daniel Larsson held his throw for 5-4 and then broke the throw of the Dane in the 10th leg, making the final score 6-4 for Daniel Larsson.
Due to his seeding, Jani Haavisto received a BYE into the round of 32 in Gothenburg today. In this round he was drawn up against Martin Olesen from Denmark.
The match started to look like a bit of a shock for the Finnish top player, as Martin Olesen got himself in front by 3-0, before Jani Haavisto started to hit his doubles. The first double proved to be thing he needed, as Haavisto went on and won six legs in a row, securing him a victory and a spot in the round of 16.
Tour Card holder Viktor Tingström was the player to beat in this round, and the match up proved to be something of a thriller, as the match went all the way into an 11th and deciding leg. And even though the Swede had no less than eight match darts, Jani Haavisto ended up winning the match with a 48 checkout.
In the quarter-final the Dane Jonas Graversen awaited and even though the Dane stayed in the game for a long time, Jani Haavisto got the win in the end by 6-4.
Another Tour Card holder stood in the way of a potential final for Jani Haavisto, as he was drawn up against Oskar Lukasiak in the semi-final. Both players pressed the other, as each respectively held their throw up until the score of 5-4 for Haavisto. The Finn then secured the match with an impressive 12 darter and thus got his place in the final.
At Saturday Johan Engström managed to secure yet another participation at a European Tour event, as he qualified for the Czech Darts Open in September.
The Nordic and Baltic Pro Tour continues in August in Norway, however it will be possible to experience multiple Nordic and Baltic players in both the Nordic Darts Masters and the World Cup of Darts in June.
