Glen Durrant won Players Championship 4 this afternoon against Dimitri van den Bergh.
Not much more than a month was needed for Glen Durrant, before he won his first ever PDC-title. On a day, where the Englishman dominated the event, Darius Labanauskas also had a good day.
In the first round the Lithuanian drew Simon Whitlock. Darius Labanauskas won the match by 6-4, and that means the Australian still hasn’t won a match in 2019.
In the second round Darius Labanauskas won again, as he did beat Niels Zonneveld by 6-5.
But in the third round Darius met his superior, as he lost by 6-0 against Mark McGeeney.
Madars Razma drew Steve Beaton in the first round. Unfortunately he lost that match by 6-3.
Marko Kantele had by far the toughest draw in the first round, as he drew former world champion Rob Cross. But it did not shake Marko Kantele. He played a great match, and he was up by 2-1 in the first part of the match. Later he leveled the score by 4-4, despite being down by 4-2. In the ninth leg he even had three darts at a double, but unfortunately he could not hit the outer ring, and therefor Rob Cross could go ahead by 5-4, and eventually winning the match by 6-4.
But just as mentioned, Glen Durrant ended up by winning the tournament. Along his way for the title, he did beat names such as Joe Cullen, Mensur Suljovic, Gerwyn Price and Dimitri van den Bergh in the final. The Englishman had an overall average at impressing 101,11. Only surpassed by Rob Cross and Ian White.
