It’s time for the second day and maybe more surprises at World Matchplay.
The first four matches of the World Matchplay has been played and especially one match stands out. Michael van Gerwen lost 10-6 to Jeffrey de Zwaan.
Adrian Lewis, Dave Chisnall and Michael Smith all won their games.
Today there are again matches on the program and today there are double up. We start with four matches from 2 o’clock and then four more from 8 o’clock.
If there were room for surprises yesterday, then there are definitely also today. On paper, several of the games today are incredibly equal.
First, Darren Webster sets out against Steve Lennon, followed by Ian White against former youth world champion Max Hopp.
Subsequently, Gerwin Price must try to move on to the second round when he meets Joe Cullen. Not the best draw for Price. Price has not been impressive lately. Overall, he has not impressed since his barely so good performance in the Premier League.
The afternoon is finished by Daryl Gurney against Steve West.
In the evening there are also some really interesting matches. Not least Gary Anderson against Stephen Bunting. First, however, it is Mensur Suljovic against Steve Beaton.
After the two games Rob Cross plays against Mervyn King, who has found a level where he can compete with the best, but maybe Cross will still be too big of a mouthful?
The evening and all the day’s matches are finished by Raymond van Barneveld against Kyle Anderson.
