Peter Wright won his first TV-title since he won the World Darts Championship over a year ago, as he won the Nordic Darts Masters.
2022 was a difficult year for Peter Wright, due to different circumstances. However he now has made a good start for the 2023, as he won the Viaplay Nordic Darts Masters.
In the final he was up against Gerwyn Price, who also made it to the final last week at the Bahran Darts Masters. However Gerwyn Price never really did get into the game, as Peter Wright got himself up by 5-0 before the first commercial break.
After the break Gerwyn Price began to win some legs, but never really enough to make the outcome of the match questionable. So in the end, Peter Wright won the match bu 11-5 and averaged an impressive 102,28.
However, Gerwyn Price had a good start to the day, as he won the first match of the day against Dimitri Van den Bergh in the quarter-finals. The Welshman quickly got up by a couple of legs and as Dimitri Van den Bergh never managed to draw the score, Gerwyn Price won the match by 10-7.
After this Jonny Clayton went up on the stage and dominated his match against Rob Cross, meaning he won the match by 10-4.
Michael Smith then got up and eliminated Luke Humphries from the tournament, before a real nailbiter of a match between Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen concluded the afternoon session.
In the semi-finals the crowd at the Forum got yet another thriller of a match, as Jonny Clayton lost by 11-10 against Gerwyn Price, even though Clayton was in front most time of the match.
In the other semi-final Michael Smith never really managed to hit the important doubles, and therefore it almost looked to easy, as Peter Wright won the match by 11-8.
