Throughout the season of 2022, Madars Razma has shown, that he can beat the best players regulary. At the European Darts Matchplay he got all the way to the semifinal.
At Friday, when the European Darts Matchplay started, the Nordic and Baltic region was represented by two players, as Johan Engström and Madars Razma had qualified for the event.
Johan Engström was to play James Wilson in the first match of the entire event, and even though the Swede followed Wilson until 3-3, the Englishman proved to strong and won the match by 6-3.
Then Madars Razma had to play Dragutin Horvat in the evening session and event though the German got up on 2-2, after being down by 2-0, Madars Razma got out of the match with a 6-3 win.
At Saturday Martin Schindler waited on the stage, and what a nailbiter it was. Madars Razma went up by 5-2, but then suddenly Martin Schindler began to haul himself back into the game, and then the suddenly the scoreboard showed 5-5.
The Latvian however, had the advantage of throwing for the leg and as he got down on 40 left, he secured himself the vital victory.
At Sunday he then got up on stage and won against Wesley Plaisier and Rob Cross, before losing 7-6 against Rowby-John Rodriguez in his first ever semifinal at the European Tour. It was also the first ever Latvian semifinal at the European Tour.
Luke Humphries ended up winning the event, as he beat Rowby-John Rodriguez by 8-7 in the final. This was the fourth European title for Luke Humphries in 2022.
