Madars Razma has been drawn up against Harry Ward at the World Darts Championship.
The draw for the PDC World Darts Championship 2020 was made yesterday. Darius Labanauskas, Madars Razma and Marko Kantele were all in the bowl for the first round draw.
Darius Labanauskas will gop up against Matthew Edgar. It was the same Edgar he won 3-1 against last year in the first round. Should he win the match, he will have to face number 9 seeded Ian White in the second round.
Unlike Darius Labanauskas, the World Championship this year will be the first for Madars Razma.
“The World Darts Championship is one of my targets every season. You have to ask my manager how disapointed I felt last year. It has been the same emotions this year, but the long journey had a good ending,” Madars Razma told pdc-nordic.tv
Madars Razma was drawn up against Harry Ward. The two of them have meet twice with a victory for both.
“There was only one player I did not want to meet, and that was Darius. All the other players are the same for me, it doesn’t matter if you are the world champion or the tournament debutant. I will go and fight! If I can find my best game everything is possible and then I can beat everyone.”
The winner between Madars Razma and Harry Ward will have to go up against Simon Whitlock in the second round. Madars Razma, however, have not given much thought to that.
“At the moment I am not thinking about the second round, because I need to focus on the first round game against Harry Ward. But Simon is a great player and a fantastic personality. He is always friendly, but as you know, there are no friend when the game is on.”
Last but not least, Marko Kantele was drawn up against William O’Connor. The winner between the two will have to face in-form Gerwyn Price.
The schedule of play will be confirmed later in the week.
