The Austrian Darts Championship starts today, and Cor Dekker will go up against Dietmar Burger.
Back in March Cor Dekker qualified for the Austrian Darts Championship. The tournament starts today, and it is the first European Tour event ever for Cor Dekker.
“I’m a bit nervous, because I don’t know what to expect. But like I will prepare myself in a good way, so I hope it will be fine,” Cor Dekker told pdc-nordic.tv yesterday.
Last weekend Cor Dekker did good at the PDC Nordic & Baltic Pro Tour weekend, with two finals in two of the three qualifying events. Therefore Cor is quite confident about his form.
“I played my best averages in Iceland. So I’ll say my form is pretty good.”
Yesterday when the draw was being made, Cor Dekker was drawn against one of the Host Nation Qualifiers. Later at the evening it became clear, that the opponent will be Dietmar Burger. A good draw according to Cor Dekker.
“I think it’s a good draw for me, because he’s a local qualifier, and he doesn’t play on the Pro Tour.”
Dietmar Burger got through the qualifying event with a 80.58 tournament average. But that is not something, that concerns the Norwegian.
“I played better than that last weekend in Iceland when I had to. But we’ll see, you never know what can happen on the big stage. It’s a while ago since i played on it. As I said I will prepare myself good and hope it won’t be a big problem.”
“As long as I play a good game I won’t be disappointed. And every game on stage is good for the experience”
Cor Dekker and Dietmar Burger will go up against each other at the afternoon session, approximately at 3:30 pm. The winner will go up against Dave Chisnall tomorrow.
The day will also feature 15 other matches, and there are a couple of interesting matches throughout the day. The first match will be an Irish clash, as the Irish William O’Connor will go up against the Northern Irish Brendan Dolan.
Ted Evetts will go up against one of two brothers, as he will take on Rusty-Jake Rodriguez. Rusty’s older brother will take on Josh Payne in the evening session. The evening session will also see Mark Webster against Dimitri van den Bergh, Luke Humphries against Jamie Hughes and Kyle Anderson against Stephen Bunting.
