Anton Östlund won the second edition of the PDC Nordic & Baltic Championship this evening.
Anton Östlund was crowned champion of the 2026 PDC Nordic & Baltic Championship after defeating Darius Labanauskas 8-4 in the final. The Swede made a flying start, racing into a 4-0 lead before Labanauskas managed to get back into the contest at 4-2. Östlund then regained control, extending his lead to 6-2 before eventually closing out the match.
Although Östlund averaged just over 83 in the final, he produced some impressive moments on stage, including a 12-darter, a 14-darter and a massive 151-checkout at a crucial point in the match, just as Labanauskas looked set to mount a comeback.
Alongside lifting the Jann Hoffmann Trophy, the new champion also secured qualification for the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace and the Grand Slam of Darts, which gets underway in just a week.
Sunday saw the 2026 PDC Nordic & Baltic Championship reach its conclusion, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final all scheduled to take place at the Odense Congress Center.
The eight players still in contention for the title were Petri Rasmus, Anton Östlund, Jonas Graversen, Oskar Lukasiak, Jani Haavisto, Darius Labanauskas, Jonas Masalin and Valters Melderis.
In the first match of the day, Anton Östlund came flying out of the starting blocks, producing no less than two consecutive ton-plus checkouts to take an early lead. Petri Rasmus responded with two legs of his own to get back into the contest, but Östlund was far from finished with the big finishes. The Swede added another two ton-plus checkouts before eventually sealing a 7-3 victory with a 56-checkout.
Tour Card holder Oskar Lukasiak faced Jonas Graversen in the next quarter-final, and the Swede wasted little time establishing control, racing into a 3-0 lead before Graversen finally managed to get a leg on the board. Lukasiak followed that up with two consecutive legs, putting the Dane under even more pressure. Graversen managed to claim one more leg, but it proved to be his last of the tournament, as Lukasiak closed out the match with two more legs to secure a convincing 7-2 win.
The third quarter-final proved to be another relatively one-sided affair, as Darius Labanauskas raced into a 3-0 lead with legs finished in 13, 16 and 14 darts respectively. Jani Haavisto responded with a superb 82-checkout to claim the fourth leg, but Labanauskas kept up the pressure and moved further ahead by 6-1. The Finn then produced a brilliant 108-checkout, but it was too little, too late, as “Lucky D” claimed the following leg to secure a 7-2 victory.
The final quarter-final, however, provided plenty of drama, as Valters Melderis and Jonas Masalin went head-to-head for the last semi-final spot. The Latvian initially looked to be cruising towards the last four, opening up a 4-1 lead after five legs. Masalin refused to give in, though, and fought his way back into the match, eventually levelling the score at 5-5. Neither player managed to break the other’s throw in the final stages, sending the match all the way to a deciding leg at 6-6. This time, Melderis came out on top, edging a thrilling encounter 7-6.
Following a short break in the schedule, Anton Östlund and Oskar Lukasiak took to the stage for the first semi-final. Östlund once again demonstrated his impressive form, racing into a commanding 5-0 lead before Lukasiak finally managed to claim his first leg of the match. During that opening run, the young Swede produced two particularly impressive legs in 12 and 14 darts.
However, Lukasiak was unable to find another leg, as Östlund continued to perform at a high level. And in a fitting reflection of the Swede’s finishing throughout the weekend, having produced several ton-plus checkouts already, he brought the semi-final to a spectacular end with a magnificent 170-checkout, securing a 7-1 victory and his place in the final.
In the second semi-final, Darius Labanauskas and Valters Melderis both made somewhat slow starts, with the opening two legs shared after 20-dart finishes from each player. Labanauskas then began to find another gear, pulling ahead to establish a 4-1 lead before Melderis fought his way back to 4-3. The two players then held their throws twice in a row, with Labanauskas producing a spectacular 170 checkout along the way. With a 7-5 lead “Lucky D” eventually wrapped up the match in the 13th leg with a 17-dart finish, booking his place in the final.
